CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor). Sir,'97 An announcement of interest to those who are on the outskirts of the dingo country to bear the authori-ties are demanding that all dog, pig, also eagle claws have to be carted a considerable distance to be burnt at the Shire Hall. It is alleged by some one that some of those interested in framing those by-laws are sheltered behind several strings of dog netting fences and scarcely know what a dingo is like. The country is coming to a pretty pass when it is impossible to get a few receivers capable of burn-ing a few stinking scalps. Those scalps, even without the red tape that is going to be bound round them from now on, are pleasant companions on a motor or rail journey to the Shire Hall. The selectors on the outskirts of the sheep country are urging a con-stant war on dingoes. The least that can be done by the powers that be, is to give us what little assistance they are able to, by not interfering with the present system of scalp destruction, which has been good enough for a con-siderable time. I might mention in passing that the bonus is a starvation one and is not sufficient to entice even a relief worker to go out and get a dingo. Yours etc.,

RECENT SURF RESCUES
To the Editor
Sir.'97 I would like a little space in the columns of your valuable paper to bring before the public the meritorious act of some of the unselfish people of
Maroochydore. On Saturday last four people went over the bar in a row boat which capsized. They were rescued by Norman and Bruce Weir, who ven-tured out into the sea on their surf skis for about 1½ miles. Norman brought the lady in on the ski. Bruce kept the other three afloat on his ski until rescuers arrived in a launch, thus definitely saving the lives of three people. For such heroic actions they should be suitably rewarded. A Royal Humane Society medal should be pre-sented to them. It can be left to any one's imagination what sort of experi-ence it was. keeping three half-drown-ed people afloat in a rough sea on a ski for nearly three hours. Then again, is the action of Alan Peterson and Marshall Espin in going out to try to help them in a row boat. How they launched that boat without getting swamped is best known to themselves. And last, but not least Percy Evans piloted his launch over the bar. How he got out and back again without wrecking his boat, is best known to him also. In five years' residence here. I have seen Percy Evans go out six times at his own risk. For such humane actions he should have free access to every wharf, either public or private, on the river.
Now to prevent a recurrence of this near tragedy, danger notices should be erected by the Council on each side of the river. A light surf boat should be provided. It is a catastrophe to have two boys like the Weir brothers risking their lives without suitable equipment.
Notices should be posted on the walls of every guest, boarding, and rented house in Maroochydore warning the inexperienced to keep away from the river mouth; and also to bathe in front of the surf club house where directed. '97 Yours etc., .

There are other people in this site, for various reasons, some not related at all. Some are married into my family, some I once thought were related and, turns out, they are not.

On the Aborigines: Unfortunately, I can only place global statements not he web pages. The aborigines I am aware of are in the Blackman Line and are from the children of James Blackman and Elizabeth Harley.
