at the Roman Catholic Church, Beechworth, Bogong, Victoria

Lewis, bachelor and Mary Jane Adeline Blackman spinster, were married by the rites of the Catholic Church in Beechworth. Hannah Ryan (Mother of the bride) gave her consent stating that the father of the bride was dead. (Charles Edward was alive and living in Albury in 1878). Lewis, a labourer living at Corowa, was 28 years old and Mary Jane of Beechworth, was 18 years. Lewis signed X his mark and Mary Jane her signature. Witnesses to the marriage were John T Ryan and Margaret Thomas.
