CRAMP.'97On 29th September, at her residence, Criterion Hotel, Rockhampton, Maria, the beloved wife of John Cramp. Aged 37 years.

Maria Cramp was charged with assaulting James Hazlehurst, while in the execution of his public duty as a bailiff in charge of property, in the insolvent estate of John Cramp (defen-dant's husband.) An objection to com-plainant's appointment as bailiff taken by Mr. Milford, for the defence, was overruled by the Bench. It appeared that on Friday last, the 12th instant, (the day after the sale of the Commercial Hotel, Quay-Street,) defendant was knocking down some shelving and fixtures with an axe. Complainant told her it would do her no good to do, and to leave them for the person who had bought the good-will of the house. She slapped him on the face several times, and subsequently, when he left the bar to give delivery of some beer, she took possession of the bar, and would not lot him in. Fined 20s., with 7s. costs of Court.
