Three Cyclists Fined For Riding Abreast
Separate charges of having on March 13, at Commercial road. Port Adelaide, ridden bicycles abreast of each other, were heard against Cyril Alfred Sweet, of Bucknall road, Glanville, William George Sweet, of the same address, and Raymond Lionel Sykes, of Swan street, Semaphore, by Mr. Sanderson. S.M., in the Port Adelaide Police Court yesterday. Cyril Sweet and Sykes pleaded guilty by letter, and the other defendant appeared and pleaded guilty.
Plainclothes Constable A. L. Mitchell, who prosecuted, said that about 6.50 p.m. on March 13. Motor Traffic Constable McCallum saw the defendants riding abreast. The officer followed them and when questioned, the defendants said that they did not know that it was an offence in the Port Adelaide district to ride abreast.
Each defendant was ordered to pay 10/, with £1 costs, In default three days imprisonment.
