WOMAN CHARGED.
Alleged False Pretences.
Alice Mary Dunn, 39, was charged at the Central Police Court yesterday with having falsely pretended to Arthur Henry Cramp that she had been to see the Minister for Labour (Mr. Dunningham), and would got him a position if he gave her £5 to give to Mr. Dunningham to register him for work.
The charge quoted remarks which the de- fendant was alleged to have made to Cramp. They were: "I will get you a job as an in- spector of flour mills in the town and country. But I must have the £5 to give to Mr. Dunningham before you can get the job. You will get anything up to £6 a week. It might cost me £1 myself. I will take the money from you now as I am going straight away into town, and I will get you fixed up."
The charge added that the defendant was alleged to have received £4 from Cramp by the promises, which were false, with intent to defraud
Sergeant Caban, police prosecutor, said that there was some doubt about the defendant appearing in court.
Mr. J. P. McCarthy (for defendant) said that she was well known, and was not likely to abscond. She had just come out of Lewisham Hospital.

WOMAN SENTENCED.

Minister Gives Evidence.
Alice Mary Dunn, 39, domestic, was sen- tenced by Mr. MacDougal, S.M., at the Cen- tral Police Court yesterday to three months Imprisonment, with hard labour, for having obtained £4 from Arthur Henry Cramp, with
Intent to defraud.
"You are a very wicked woman. You are a danger to the community," said the magis- trate, who also ordered Dunn to pay Cramp £ 4 compensation.
Among the witnesses was the Minister for Labour and Industry (Mr. Dunningham), who, in answer to a question by the prosecutor (Sergeant Hart), whether witness knew Mrs. Dunn, said, "I have never seen the woman in my life."
Evidence was given that Cramp, who was a baker's carter, but is now out of work, at one time supplied Mrs. Dunn with bread. After he had lost his employment about the end of September, he met Mrs. Dunn. She promised to get him a position. Afterwards she told him that she could not get him the Job, but said that she had heard of a vacant position of inspector of flour mills in the country, at a wage up to £6 a week. She also told him that, it would cost £5 to have him registered. Cramp tried to get the £5, but could only ob- tain £4, which was lent him by his parents. When ho gave Mrs. Dunn the money, she said she would add £1 herself and give the £5 to the Minister, "so that Cramp might be registered." She also told Cramp that for £20 she could get a man a position as clerk in a Government office.
Cramp informed the Court that he had not got the promised position, and that his £4 had not been returned to him.
Mrs. Dunn (from the box) said that she had tried to get Cramp a position. She denied having received a penny from him, and stated that she had never paid the Minister any- thing.
She had previous convictions for a similar class of offence.

There are other people in this site, for various reasons, some not related at all. Some are married into my family, some I once thought were related and, turns out, they are not.

On the Aborigines: Unfortunately, I can only place global statements not he web pages. The aborigines I am aware of are in the Blackman Line and are from the children of James Blackman and Elizabeth Harley.
