| (Taken to Wing Ting Mai) Your
weapons are all removed, you are tied up and taken to stand in the corridor outside Wing
Ting Mai's office, in the tower. One of the lieutenants goes into the office. Five minutes
later he opens the doors and signal to the guard to move you inside. Wing Ting Mai is
sitting behind his desk. He says I would like to hear your side of the story before I
pass sentence.. He looks at you expectantly. |

| | If the party were caught sailing in, in the guard house or
in the tunnel, Wing Ting Mai will consider them spies. If they cannot give a very good
account of themselves he will order them to be taken to the slave cells and executed in
three days. If they manage to spin a good enough tale, he will decide they are trouble
makers, take all their money as a fine and release them outside the city.
| | If the party were caught in the tower Wing Ting Mai will
consider them thieves. There is only a very small chance that they could convince him
otherwise, in which case he will take action appropriate to their story. If they are
considered to be thieves they will be locked up in the slave cells to have their hands
chopped off in three days and then be released. |

| (In the Slave Cells)
All your possessions [unless hidden] are removed. You are led into die guard house, down
past two levels of guards' quarters and into the slave cells. All six of you are thrown
into a cell which has no light except that which comes through the twelve inch square
grill on the door. There are identical doors all along the corridor. |

| | Their possessions are put at the opposite end of the
corridor to the stairs in a locked cell. The party, if they ask, will have noticed that
their possessions were taken further down the corridor. Once they have escaped, they can
see them from the corridor, looking into the cell.
| | They are fed once per day on rice and water, which is
brought in by four guards. One brings in the food and the other dice watch from just
beyond the door. The other slaves can be treated as peasants for knowledge. (See WTM 013)
They have been in here between two days and two years. |
| | The cells are standard doors and will open on a normal open
doors roll. There are no guards normally on M level, so no guards will hear them forcing
the door open. |
