The old cover died about halfway through the Malaysia trip. I continued using it. So yesterday I purchased a new cover from the apple shop in Sydney. It is a lucky brand covet and boasts that “your luck is protected”. It looks good too!

Both my computers have become dyslexic, the one at work whch is a Windows 2000 computer running explorer 6 and my home computer which is a mac running safari have the same bit of dyslexia going on. When I select the letter B in the web browser, I get a list of the words I have previously typed starting with the letter B. But, on both computers, the letter B is sometimes (say 50%) replaced with the letter G as in this screen shot. The pick list item is BOP+RML/KDI, but the text is GOP+RML/KDI. Well I purchased a new hard disk as my old one finally said it had run out of space. I have been looking at new disks for a while and I have been putting off the purchase of a new disk. I have a mix of firewire 400 and 800 ports on my existing disks, but my computer only had 400M ports. I did not want to use USB2, even though it is cheaper as I have a shortage of ports and I am constantly rearranging the ports to plug in various devices. Not much point if I have to unplug the hard disk all the time. Also my experience it that my existing drives are somewhat slower than USB. After all of this deliberation, I purchased a LACIE Network Server drive. Alas it has not been a happy experience. Downloaded netbeans 6.0 a few days ago. Spent a while fighting the layout manager. Changed the layout from absolute to gridbag (my favourite) still fought the layout manager. Gave up in disgust. Some time later, thought, I wonder if it is a bug. So went back, downloaded all the latest patches. Lo and behold! [...] |
