I did not say it, but I thought last week’s art ride should have been part of the WNBR ride, but alas, it was not. This week I did the bike ride around Waterloo and Alexandria, ending in Newtown. The rides are held by Bike Sydney and are part of Art Month Sydney.
For the second year in a row I went to the Portuguese Festival in Petersham. Again it was crowded. I think that this time the food was better as there was more focus on Portuguese food and less non of your run of the mill street festival food stalls. I had smoked [...]
Well, on the way home I did something unusual and walked down to Belmore park rather than across to Castlereagh Street and saw what turned out to be a rehearsal for the opening ceremony for Chinese New Year. So we saw them go through the various parts, checking the timings, lights and sound. Each act put on a shortened version of their show and the talkers were not present. But still it was very interesting.
I had dinner with Karyn at the Peace and Harmony vegan (Thai) restaurant and then headed down to the Vivid Light Festival. I cleverly left my camera at home so was only able to take some photos using my mobile phone. And the mobile’s battery ran out later in the night. Still I think [...]
I went down to my first Marrickville Eco Fest. The weather was somewhat cloudy with patches of rain. I took my big umbrella. At the small festival were many displays on water recycling and solar power. The information was all aimed at houses and I live in a unit and was looking for something for camping. But overall I though it was very good. I picked up some bike maps from the bicycle tent. They also had live music.
It is amazing, but because of the drought I guess these people did not get flooded. It did rain a fair bit during the festival and camping in the storm water drain is just stupid. I mean if it was night when you arrived and you were unfamiliar with the [...]
Perhaps my body clock does not work to the same rhythm as the festival. I got up early and headed into the festival. All was quite except a few people setting up their stalls, some people of the festival itself doing festival things and a few people feeding them. I grabbed some food, took a pic of the bike in the bike lock-up and watched the start of the first event for the day, the poets breakfast in the Troubadour.
This is a slide show of all of the Parkes Elvis festival 20009, but the sound track is from the gospel service. Mostly the sound is ok, but for one song there is a lot of distortion. The photos are from my collection on flickr. I did the slide show on full auto and [...]
