I rode down Footscray Road, past the Melbourne Docklands. It was a place of high brick walls topped with barbed wire. I really hated the ambience of the place.\u00a0 I was pleased to see that those walls have all now been demolished.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">So I was very sad to see in Sydney that not only was the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/yewenyi\/2768057337\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sydney Harbour Bridge<\/a> covered on one side in Barbed Wire, but the walkways were completely enclosed in mesh fences and barbed wire. This gives it the feel of a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/yewenyi\/2886518125\/sizes\/o\/in\/set-72157600138518405\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">prison<\/a>. The people who did it clearly were only interested in security and had no interest in maintaining the landmark as a public and tourist friendly destination. Why go to a goal when you can visit the bridge! Really there must be better solutions.
