I always thought this was because your shoes may be dirty and therefore this prevents bringing the dirt into the house. A bit like old Australian farms that had scrapers and mats at the front door to clean your shows before you entered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">But recently I have come to think that this has an added benefit. With children it also means that the shoes are in a known place, the front door, rather than in some random location where they were removed from ones feet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The downside though is that when you want to go out through another door, your shoes are somewhere else.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Malaysia people often leave their shoes at the front door.
