The annual race meeting and ball of the
Bligh Amateur Racing Club was held on May
4 und 6, at Mudgee, and proved successful,
although there were several absentees on ac-
count of the war. Several hostesses enter-
tained their friends at lunch and afternoon tea
on the ground during the interval of the
races. The committee of the club decided
to hand over all tho proceeds of the meeting
to the Belgian Fund. Several of the owners
of the winning horses also generously donated
their prize money to the various patriotic
The ball was held in the Mechanics'
Institute on May 4, and, although not as nume-
rously attended as last year, paused off very
satisfactorily. Amongst those present at
the races and ball were:-Mr. and Mrs. J. A.
Buckland and Misses Buckland (Pine Ridge),
Mrs. Watt (Ulinda), Miss. Watt, Miss. Gal-
braith (Sydney), Bruce Watt, Mr. and Mrs.
