Private Walter Freeman, writing to his brother-in-law (Mr E. J.Cramp, of Koorlong) from Harefield Park, says that Bill McDonald and Max Grayston had left for the firing line, while Tom Kelly had returned wounded. Walter had seen Dr. Mc-Williams in England and had good talk to him. Walter was well and wished his relatives and friends "A Happy New Year."
Private Charlie Cramp writes two letters to his mother from "Some-where in France." He was expect-ing to go into action at any moment. He wishes to be cordially remembered to all enquiring friends. Private W. H. Cramp writing from Mitcham Camp, Ade-laide, said that he expected to be sailing for England at the end of January. He had been up to the Burra after some horses which the military people had bought and had since been participating in the "send-off." Moore's Store was to give the Light Horse a flag. Private Charles Netley Cramp, third son of Mr. acid Mrs. E. J.Cramp, of Orange-avenue, Mildura, who was killed in action Somewhere in France on 6th October,1917, first volunteered for service at the big recruiting meeting held in Olympia in June, 1915. Being then only 15 years and 11 months old he was rejected on account of his -age. He tried again in Mel-bourne in February, 1916, but was again rejected, this time on account of chest measurement. To meet this difficulty, at his own expense, he took a course of physical cul-ture and was eventually accepted in March, 1916. He was first woun-ded, then gassed and finally met his death as above--after proving himself "a soldier and a man." Before enlisting "Charlie" was working for the First Mildura Irrigation Trust and was afterwards in the employ of Mr. Danson at his station in New South Wales.

Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Cramp have received from the Lieut-Coionel of the 37th Battalion a letter referring to the death of their son Charles and conveying the sympathy of offi-cers, non-commissioned officers and men. Charlie (he said) had been with the battalion since its forma-tion and at all times conducted himself in such a manner as to earn the respect, praise and admiration of all ranks by his unfailing cheerful-ness and bravery under most trying circumstances'. His death is gener-ally mourned-not only as that ofa comrade, but as a brave man who had worthily upheld the best tradi-tions of the A.I.F.. This testimony to his popularity and his devotion will be prized by his parents.

Lient. Wilkinson, of B. Com-pany, 37th Battalion, writes on the8th November to Mrs. E. J. Cramp offering sincere sympathy with the family over the death of her son Charles. The services of the young man were very highly valued and the lieutenant had him picked as being one of the two most reliable men the platoon. These two were chosen because of their utter lack of fear and their reliability to carry messages as runners. They would face certain death to carry a message through. Charlie went over the top on the 5th October, but was hit by a shell soon after starting and was killed instantly. He was buried on the field of battle by some of his mates, and his loss was mourned by everybody who knew him.

There are other people in this site, for various reasons, some not related at all. Some are married into my family, some I once thought were related and, turns out, they are not.

On the Aborigines: Unfortunately, I can only place global statements not he web pages. The aborigines I am aware of are in the Blackman Line and are from the children of James Blackman and Elizabeth Harley.
