DROWNED IN THE MURRAY
RENMARK. December 7. '97 A sad case of
drowning occurred on Monday afternoon or
evening last. Robert Cramp, of about 16
years of age, together with some com-
panions, decided to have a swim. The lat-
ter disapproved of the place that Cramp
had chosen, and left him by himself. This
was the last seen of him. His clothes were
found on the bank, and although dragging
has been kept up for the last three days
the body has not yet been recovered. Ow-
ing to the high state of the river dragging
operations have to be conducted under diffi-
culties. The services of native divers were
obtained, but they could not find any trace
of the body. This last case once more
teaches the necessity to be careful in battli-
ng in the Murray. Even the strongest
swimmer is helpless when he gets snagged,
and it is not too much to say that bathing
by oneself at any time in such a treacherous
river is fraught with risk.

There are other people in this site, for various reasons, some not related at all. Some are married into my family, some I once thought were related and, turns out, they are not.

On the Aborigines: Unfortunately, I can only place global statements not he web pages. The aborigines I am aware of are in the Blackman Line and are from the children of James Blackman and Elizabeth Harley.
