Annie had a relationship with John Iliffe [16861] [MRIN: 6855]. (John Iliffe [16861] was born before 1852 and died after 1867.)
Annie Dowton. We are confident (as much as you can be in these cases) that she had Ada as an illegitimate daughter of John Iliffe. We have a letter from John to Ada signed 'your loving father". He also left her a substantial inheritance (which we think kicked started the Davison wealth). John had lodged where Annie was a maid is our story. John never married. He made his wealth on the goldfields. Annie Dowton went on to 'marry' Albert Thomas Field. 1 |
