CRIME.

TOOWOOMBA, April l8.

In the Toowoomba Police Court jester day, before Mr. T. H. Boddington, PM, Frederick Irving Steele (24), George Brown (22), Ronald Wilson Ford (19), and Robert Charles Warren (22), on remand, who were all said to belong to New South Wales, were charged with having on or about April 14 entered the premises

of M'Leod and Co. at Warwick with intent to commit a crime. Evidence of arrest was given by Plain clothes Constable Donnelly, who stated that he had seen a motor car, with a New South Wales number on it, and answering to the de- scription of a car which he had received, pass him late on Thursday night. He followed on a bicycle, and eventually the car stopped at Herries-street Constable Donnelly then detained the men in the car until other police arrived Investiga- tions were made, and subsequently the four men were conveyed to the police station and placed under arrest At the police station the accused said they had not been in Warvick, and defendant Steele stated that he and the others had left Sydney about 10 days ago on a tour- ing trip. The four accused were re- manded to Warwick.

VICTIM DIES

When a car in which he was a passenger crashed into a bridge on Lake Albert rd, near Wagga, in a heavy fog on Saturday night, Ronald Wilson Ford, 46, shop fitter of Macleay st, Wagga, was fatallyin-jured.

He died in Wagga Base Hospital yesterday.

The rails of the bridge tore through the car and struck Ford on the side of the head. The car fell 10ft into the creek, landing in shallow water.

The driver, Arthur Blamey, Wagga merchant, was allowed to leave hos- pital after treatment.
