Nisbet, J.P., concerning the death of William Edward Cramp, who died suddenly at that, place on the 31st of March. Margaret Hagan, of Ruby Vale deposed to having been called by Mrs. Serath to see a sick man named Cramp. Witness was a qualified nurse. When she reached Scrath's place Cramp was unconscious and died about ten minutes after her arrival. Nothing could be done for him beyond what had been done. He had been treated for a stomach complaint. Witness considered he suffered from a gastric complaint. She had no suspicion of foul play in connec-tion with his death. Charles Huluh, P.F.A., in charge of the Sapphire Town Hospital, deposed to receiving a telephone message from Mrs. Serath about Cramps illness on the 31st of March. Proceeding to Ruby Vale he found the sufferer in his tent. Cranp complained of abdominal pains. His pulse was rapid and feeble, respiration irregular, with persistent vomiting. Wit-ness treated him with hot flannels, ad-ministering opium and enemas. He re-mained about an hour with Cramp. Con-'sidering the case serious, he arranged to get the sufferer conveyed to Anakie to be sent on to Rockhampton Hospital. He was told of Cramp's death about 8 p.m., and he examined the body. He considered that death was due to inflammation of the bowels. Deceased was subject to stomach complaint. There were no marks of violence nor any suspicion of foul play. He gave a certificate of death. Andrew Thompson, miner. Ruby Vale, deposed that Cramp was camped near his place. De-ceased frequently complained of pains in the stomach. On the night of the 30th of March witness heard Cramp groaning. He got up about 5.45 a.m. Cramp was still suffering and was being attended to by Mr. and Mrs. Scrath and Mr. Thomp-son. Witness returned from his was about 4.30 p.m. and Cramp had just died. Constable Allison took possession of de-ceasd's camp and effects. Witness had no suspicion of foul play, nor that de-ceased took anything or Was given any-thing to cause his death. Frederick Tid-der. miner, Ruby Vale, deposed that he and deceased were work mates. Twice during the last fortnight deceased had been taken ill with pains in the stomach and had been obliged to knock off work. Witness knew of no physic that Cramp took for his complaint. He had no sus-picion of foul play in connection with Cramp's death, further inquiry was ad-journed owing to the absence of some of the witnesses.
