CANE DESTROYED.
RECENT TULLY BLAZE.
CORONIAL INQUIRY.
TULLY, March 6,
A coronial inquiry was held at the Tully Court to-day before the Coroner (Mr. V. G. Sellwood) into the circumstances surrounding the fire which destroyed 100 tons of cane on January. 17, the property of Charles Henry Nutt, of Maadi. Acting-sergeaht G. Selby appeared to examine the witnesses.
SCENE OF FIRE.
Jozaf Markcoic, laborer, residing at Feluga, in evidence, stated that in company with another man, Guis-seppe Bonassi, they walked along a headland between two paddocks in an endeavor to make a short cut to Caesar Barrabo's cane farm. As witness was walking through the pad-dock, he observed smoke about three chains away in the bush.'
Witness did not notice any cane on fire going to or from Barrabo's place, and, would not know where Nutt's property was situated.
After witness was cross-examined the, inquiry was adjourned until a date to be fixed.
