Basil Arthur Oldmeadow, of Hay street, Perth, said that he was sitting in the tram on the left-hand side three or four seats from the front. Through the front door of the tram, which was open he saw deceased's car approaching the tram. As it drew nearer the tram the car seemed to take a new course nearer to that of the tram. When it was a short distance from the tram the car again altered its course, swerving gradually towards the river, away from the tram. The next thing that happened was the impact, which witness heard and felt but did not see. The brakes of the tram were applied quickly, simultaneously with the impact, it seemed to him.
