REID'S FLAT.
(From a Correspondent)
Empire Day was celebrated at Lammermuir
school, and the flag was duly hoisted in front
of the school-room. The room had been tastily
decorated by the teacher and pupils. The par-
ents and other relatives of the children pre-
sented themselves in the morning, together
with several invited friends. A short enter-
tainment was given, by the teacher, pupils, and
ex-pupils of the school in the shape of songs
and recitations. Mr. J. Reynolds acted as
chairman, and explained the object of the ga-
thering. Choruses were given by the children
and quartettes by Misses A. and W. Balgowan
and V. and G. Reynolds. Recitations were de-
livered by Albert Reynolds. Ivy Balgowan, the
teacher, May Balgowan, Edith Reynolds, Wal-
ter Reynolds, Ruby Balgowan, Vera
Balgowan, Isabella Croker, Leo
Balgowan, Andrew Reynolds, Florance
Reynolds, Annie Reynolds, Annie Croker, and
Charles Reynolds. The teacher gave an ad-
dress on English literature. The meeting clos-
ed with the National Anthem. The little as
sembly then gathered in the playground,
where a repast furnished by the parents of the
school was partaken of. The usual games were
then indulged in both by young and old until
evening, when tea was provided.

WEDDING BELLS.
CARLIN'97NEVILLE.
St. Thomas' Church, Lewisham,
was the scene of a quiet wedding on
the 12th instant, when Miss Mary
Sarah Neville, of "Alta Villa,"
Hovell's Creek, was united in the
holy bonds of matrimony to Mr.
Philip Carlin, of Darby's Falls. The
ceremony was performed by the Rev.
Father Ruche. Miss Ruby Balgowan
was bridesmaid, and the office of best
man was performed by Mr. J. Ryan.
The wedding breakfast was held at
the residence of the bride's cousin,
Mrs. Albert Parkins, Leichhardt.
