MU RWILLU MBA II, Thursday.-Mr. J. Mooney, the official instructor in the first aid work of the Railway Department, has been visiting the North Coast for four months. In Murwillumbah he gave fourteen lectures to a class of 26 candidates. He speaks of the Murwillumbah class as being very enthusiastic. Out of the 26 candidates sitting for examination, 24 were successful in gaining medals or certificates.

PROTRACTED HEARINGAFTER a protracted hearing at Lismore Police Court yester-day Mr. H. Hawkins, P.M., found Walter H. Bass, a drover, guilty of a charge of stealing a Jersey cow, the property of Donald Munro, and Earl Alexander Olive, a master butcher, of a charge of receiving.

VALUED AT £5 5s.
Donald A. Munro, a railway em-ployee, residing in South Lismore, said that his Jersey cow escaped from the yard. He valued her at £5 5s. He had made inquiries concerning her, but she had not been recovered.
To Mr. McIntosh : The cow was com-ing on to its third calf. I think it was about three and a half years old.
Robert Munro, son of the previous witness, said that after the cow broke out of the yard he made a fruitless search for her.
To Mr. McIntosh : The cow got away on a Monday night.
