CROOKWELL,
(ABBRIDGED FROM THE GAZETTE.)
POLICE Court-SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 5.
BEFORE Mr. W. S. Gunn.
Henry Cramp was brought up on suspicion of
being concerned with Richard Marks in stealing
a number of cattle, the property of G. D. Hay
and James Paget.
Senior-sergeant Maguire deposed: On the 3rd
instant I went in search of accused and found
him at the residence of Richard Marks, his
brother-in-law, now under committal for trial
on two charges of cattle-stealing; I asked him
where he had been between Friday, the 14th,
and Wednesday or Thursday, the 19th and 20th
of last month : he said he was at Charles Baker's,
at Sawyer's Creek: I asked him where he had
been the week previous to the 14th, and he said
he had been gold-digging in the gullies alone;
I asked him if he had been in Murrumburrah on
any of the dates I had mentioned, and he said
he had never been in Murrumburrah in his life;
I then asked him if he had been on the road that
leads to it, and he said " No," and immediately
afterwards he said, "Oh, I was on the road a
little way;" I then arrested him on a charge of
being concerned with Richard Marks in stealing
a number of cattle, the property of G. D. Hay
and James Paget, and asked him if he under
stood the charge; he replied, "I do ;" I brought
him to the lookup at Crookwell; the prisoner
answers the description I received of the drover
who took the cattle to Murrumburrah. I pray
for a remand to Tuesday next to enable me to
make further inquiries in this district.
Remanded till Tuesday.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8.
Before Messrs. G. D. Hay and W. S. Gunn.
Henry Cramp, on remand from Saturday last,
was again brought up.
Senior-sergeant Maguire deposed: Prisoner is
a gold-digger and not a drover; when I charged
him with being concerned with Richard Marks
in cattle-stealing he asked, "Have you a war-
rant ?"'I replied, "The Criminal Law is my
authority for arresting you-I have a strong
suspicion you were concerned with Marks." I
now pray for a remand to Murrumburrah.
Prisoner was then remanded to Murrumburrah.

There are other people in this site, for various reasons, some not related at all. Some are married into my family, some I once thought were related and, turns out, they are not.

On the Aborigines: Unfortunately, I can only place global statements not he web pages. The aborigines I am aware of are in the Blackman Line and are from the children of James Blackman and Elizabeth Harley.
