MR. S. F. CARMAN.

The death occurred on Saturday of Mr Silvester Francis Carman, at his residence in Parramatta, at the age of 44. Bom at Wyn- yard, Tasmania, Mr. Carman came to . New South Wales about 20 years ago, and was en- gaged in business at Parramatta for a number of years. He was a well-known musician, and played In many orchestras. He was for years actively associated with musical productions for charities, and a concert which he had arranged at Parramatta on Sunday night was postponed on account of his death. Before coming to New South Wales he was a member of the Burnie, Zeehan, and Hobart bands. He was treasurer and organiser of the Parramatta District Nursing Association, and an active member of the H.A.C.B.S., St. Patrick's Lodge. He was recently appointed to the committee of the newly formed Parramatta Rugby Union football club. One of his yearly activities was the organisation of a Christmas tree party for poor children of the district. He is survived by Mrs Carman and a son and a daughter.

The funeral took place yesterday at the Roman Catholic portion of Rookwood Ceme- tery. The Rev. Father McNally officiated at the graveside.
