The song Wedding (свадебная) is a Russian folk tune published in the mid nineteenth century. I used it in my piece “Traveling Dancers Russia” for the day after the dance performance when the Chinese dancers were resting in Russia and listening to local music.

The song is a lament about arranged marriages.
The lyrics:
На морь лебедушка плавала,
Въ теремh свѣтъ Марьюшка плакала,
Въ высокомъ Ивановна рыдала:
Жалилаеь на роднаго батюшку,
Жалилаеь на родную матушку:
Богъ судьн родимему батюшкѣ,
“Богъ судьн редимей иатушкѣ:
Молоду въ чужи люди отдаютъ.
Остаетея звленый еадъ безъ меня;
Въ тамъ tаду три цвітика разцвіли
Аленькій , лазоревый, голубой.
Вставай же ты, матушка, пораньше,
Поливай зеленый еадъ почаще
Утренней, вечернею зарею,
Свѣжею ключевою водою,
Сверхъ того горючею слезою.”
The swan swam on the sea,
In the tower, Maryushka cried,
In high, Ivanovna sobbed:
Have pity on your dear father,

People give their young lives to strangers.
Remain a green garden without me;
In the garden three flowers bloomed,
Scarlet , azure, blue.
Get up early, mother,
Water your green garden more often,
morning, evening dawn,
With fresh spring water,
Beyond that with a burning tear.
