LEICHHARDT.
A meeting of the Leichhardt Borough Council was held in the local Town Hall on the 28th ult., when there were present the Mayor (Alderman N. C. Neal) and Aldermen Sadler, Wragge, Walsh, Oropley, Cooke, Moore, Hyde, and Little. The Mayor moved, with very much regret, that the Council should adjourn out of espect to the memory of Mr. Charles Hearn, who had died on the day previous. Ever since and for many years prior to the incorporation of Leichhardt, Mr. Hearn had been identified with the municipality, and there was not in the borough a single individual who could say that the deceased gentleman had not per-formed his duty. The deceased gentleman having so recently been a member of the council, and only having retired from the position in February last, the least the council should do would be to adjourn the meeting as a mark of their respect. The motion was seconded by Alderman Moore, supported by Aldermen Sadler, Wraggo and Walsh, and carried. On the motion of Alderman Moore, and seconded by Alderman Cropley, a letter of condolence, under the seal of the council, was ordered to be forwarded to the family of the deceased gentle-man. The report of the finance committee, recom-mending payment of accounts amounting to £340 7s 6d, was adopted, after which the council adjourned.
