Police Court.
ALLEGED SHEEP STEALING.
Francis Joseph Nicholls, aged 27
years, was charged at the Police Court
yesterday morning, with stealing one
sheep, the property of Anderson Bros.

Robert Balgowan said, he was bound-
ry rider in the employ of Anderson
Bros. On the 12th instant he rode
round the boundary of Sawnbank
paddock. Saw a man jump down the
bank of the creek. Rode up and found
the man skinning the sheep. The man
said 'Hello' and witness said: :What
are you doing here? He replied:
'I'm -just getting a bit of meat." I've
got a wife and a big family and they've
had no meat for several weeks and I
thought it no harm to take one of these.
Will you let me off?' Witness re-
plied: 'That I can't do." He then,
said: 'I'll pay you what you ask
for the sheep.' Witness asked defen-
dant: 'You'd better come along with
me to Mr. Armstrong and perhaps
he'll settle it.' He declined to do this
and witness offered to go and fetch
Mr. Armstrong. Defendant promised
to wait. When they returned defen-
dant was not there.
William John Armstrong, superin-
tendent for Messrs. Anderson Bros.'
Blarney, said he had charge of the
firm's paddocks at Sawnbank. On Sat-
urday in consequence of something he
had been told he went to where Bal-
gowan was and the two went up the
creek. At a certain point they found
a sheep which had been recently kill-
ed. It was one of Anderson Bros.';
sheep. It had been shot in the head;
its throat was cut: and someone, had
commenced to skin it; no one had
any authority to kill the sheep refer
red to.

There are other people in this site, for various reasons, some not related at all. Some are married into my family, some I once thought were related and, turns out, they are not.

On the Aborigines: Unfortunately, I can only place global statements not he web pages. The aborigines I am aware of are in the Blackman Line and are from the children of James Blackman and Elizabeth Harley.
