TOOWOOMBA, Oct. 12. Police and ambulance were called to Lockyer this morn- ing where they found Archi- bald Cramp (64), a railway fettler, suffering- serious head injuries. He was taken to the Toowoomba general hospital where an immediate operation was performed.
His injuries were severe contusions on the scalp and a fracture of the skull. A woman was subsequently arrested and charged with having inflicted grievous bodily harm on Cramp. She will appear in the Court of Petty Sessions to-morrow at 10 a.m. The in- jured man was reported to be in a dangerous condition.

HUSBAND IN HOSPITAL
TOOWOOMBA, Oct. 13.-A 56-year-old mother of six chil- dren, Mrs. Alice Maud Mary Cramp, was charged at Too- woomba this morning with having caused grievous bodily harm to her husband at their Lockyer residence on October 12.
Senior Sergeant M. J. Mc- Donald, prosecuting, said that the husband. Archibald Cramp, (64), railway fettler, was in a serious condition at the Too- woomba General Hospital and there was a possibility that a more serious charge would be brought against Mrs. Cramp.
Detective C. H. Scanlan said that he and Detective Galli- gan had a conversation witgh Mrs. Cramp near the residence at 9.15 a.m. on October 12 and she accompanied them to the house where her husband was lying on a stretcher on the front verandah. He had seven deep wounds on the top and rear portions of his scalp and his face was covered in blood. He was conscious and told the detectives something. He was then taken to hospital.
Detective Scanlan said he took possession of a hammer and axe and other property.
Defendant was taken to the Toowoomba police station where she was arrested and charged at 2.15 p.m. When charged she made no reply.
Mr. D. j. Kearney. S.M., re- manded Mrs. Cramp on £100 bail until next Tuesday.

The husband said he did not wish to give evidence against his wife.
