History

Your early life was peaceful and idyllic, in a river Qiang Ze Jiang) a long way to the north of Nu Gong Zao. You had very little contact with the outside world.

It was by eavesdropping on conversations between people near the river that you learnt what you knew of the world outside the riven This was fun and you gained much secret information about people of the region. One day while hiding under a bridge to play tricks on passers by, a group of people crossed oven Deepening your voice, you demanded a toll for crossing the bridge or you would kill them all. This was usually good for a few copper pieces or some small trinket. An owl flew down from the deck of the bridge and then flew out of sight. While wondering what this meant you heard some chanting from above. when it stopped you could not move. You were wrenched from the water and deposited on the bridge. The adventurers discussed what to do to you as punishment. The armoured fighter deemed that as you were only a youngster, a stem word would be enough. When you were able to talk again you promised, with crossed fingers behind your back, not to do it again. You found out that these people were Tang Li Bing, Xue Shu Chong and Fang Then Shang. Fang Then Shang was disgusted with your disrespectful behaviour

Upon reaching the age of manhood, your lord se'~nt you out from the school as part of your training to gain worldly knowledge. (ED: a normal practice in this society.) After two years of roaming the land, you woke one morning to find an extremely brightly coloured woman on the bank.' When she awoke she was extremely friendly and asked you to join her for some tea. Having been alone for so long, you were quite willing to travel with her when she asked.

During the next three years of your journeys she taught you the basics of the arts of magic.

You always enjoy telling stories to her as she seems to be fascinated by them.

You and Wen Cha Lin were both saved by the wizard Yuen Wu Ye. He did not see you, but you owe a debt to this man for your life.

After much travel you found your-selves in the Town of Liang. You were both asked to join a group heading to the capital Nu Gong no. It seems very important.

when you met the others you tried to hide behind Lin but it was too late. The others had seen and recognised you. No matter how hard you tried to convince her otherwise Lin insisted on staying with them. So you have also consented to join the group.

You have travelled to the gates of Nu Gong Zao. Along the way you managed to start a small fight between two groups of about a thousand soldiers without anyone noticing.

Personality

Playing tricks and practical jokes is still the best way you have found to get through the days enjoyably.

You have never had the patience to settle down to anything for a long time. Something more exciting always seems to crop up and distract your attention.

Bureaucracies are the most terrifying things you have ever had to deal with. You hate having to do what you are told and conforming to ridiculous rules.

Relationships

Fang Zhen Shang: It would be better off if she was an owl. Is fun to play tricks on.

Tang Li Bing: Has a free spirit. You do not mind following his orders because when you play up he lets you get away with it for a while.

Yuen Wu Ye: A little fearful of this man and the power he appears to wield. Respectful towards him publicly but consider him a bore privately. You do not see why Lin likes him so much.

Xue Shu Chong: You are scared of him. He wanted you killed.

Wen Cha Lin: Fascinating. A wonderful person. She is wonderful to be with and has shown you much love.

River Spirit Folk Abilities

River spirit folk are part of a general sub class of spirit folk. Their appearance is very sillier to that of humans. Their eyes are slender and their mouths small. Their eyebrows are very thin and their complexions are golden. They have no beard or moustache. They radiate a love of nature and life.

The river that you come from is a long way (three hundred kilometres) north of Nu Gong no.

You can breath normally in any type of fresh water

You swim at the same rate you move at in water when swimming, all items you carry remain perfectly dry.

Once per day you can lower water in rivers and streams by a depth of ten feet. This effect lasts five rounds.

You gain a +1 on all Saving Throws related to water based attacks in any way.

You suffer a - 1 on all Saving Throws against fire based attacks.

You can speak the languages of all fresh water fish.

You are attached to your river and its destiny. Bathing in its waters cures all damage and diseases instantly. Changes in the flow of the river affect your personality. Periods of drought which lower the water will temporarily lower the number of hit points you have. Floods make you wild and uncontrollable. Damming and engineering changes will progressively make you weaker until you will eventually die.
