OBITUARY
MR. SAMUEL CRAMP
As briefly mentioned is our last
issue, the death of Mr. Samuel
Cramp, aged 79 years, occurred in
the Burrowa District Hospital on
Wednesday morning of January
14th, after a short illness following
a stroke. By his death the Marengo
and Boorowa districts has lost one
of their most highly respected resi-
dents. Possessed of a straightfor-
ward and genial disposition, de-
ceased made many; friends, and was
a familiar figure in our town.
The late Mr. Cramp, who was
born at Crookwell, had lived in the
Marengo district where he farmed
and grazed a property 'Willawong.'
Later, with his wife who was for-
merly Miss Honorah Hyde, a daugh-
ter of the well-known pioneer fam-
ily of that name at "Burrowa
River') he came to Boorowa to reside
privately, and had lived here for
about 19 years at the time of his
death.
In his youth the deceased had
been a footrunner of no mean order,
and wielded a handy bat in the
cricket field. He was always an
interested spectator at our local
matches and his intelligent com-
ments on the play indicated a fine
knowledge of the game.
The late Mr. Cramp was a de-
voted adherent of the Catholic
Church and during his illness the
sacraments of his church had been
faithfully administered by Rev. Fr.
Crowe.
On Wednesday the remains were
conveyed to St. Patrick's Church,
from whence after prayers for the
dead, the representative funeral
moved to the Catholic portion of
the Boorowa cemetery, where in-
terment took place, Fathers Crowe
and Gallagher conducting the burial
service. Many friends from Mar-
engo attended.
The pall-bearers were Messrs.
Maloney (2), *O'Dea (Marengo),
and Mr. J. Donohoe.
Messrs. Patterson Bros. conduct-
ed the funeral arrangements.
Amongst the floral tributes sent
were those from the following: Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Donohoe and family;
H. and E. Gemmell; Minnie., Geo.
and Thelma; Ernie and Maggie and
family; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Couch and
girls; Mr. and Mrs. Watson and
Marie; Heather and Hughie; Faulk-
ner family.

There are other people in this site, for various reasons, some not related at all. Some are married into my family, some I once thought were related and, turns out, they are not.

On the Aborigines: Unfortunately, I can only place global statements not he web pages. The aborigines I am aware of are in the Blackman Line and are from the children of James Blackman and Elizabeth Harley.
