Bread and Cheese Politics

My Cousin on the Cramp side – Benjamin John Seery, seems to know well the politics of Dalrymple Shire and took care to feed the councilors with fresh home made bread and cheese.

B. J. Seery sought permission to erect two gates on the Torrens Creek and Wells Lake stock routes.
The Chairman (to Councillor Chis-holm): You know him, don’t you?
Councillor Chisholm: Oh yes. He did our bit of work, and didn’t over charge us, and didn’t try to rob us, and gave us a feed —-
The Chairman: And there was home made bread and home made cheese.
Councillor Butler: A very good re-ference.
The application was granted.
