It was all a bit chaotically organised. But we headed out to the Carlton Gardens for a picnic. I had bought some picnic supplies at the supermarket and the girls were ready in record time.
I was surprised that my weekend parking spots were all taken. But turned out to be because of the world stamp expo. We parked a few blocks further north.
We went to the playground on the north side of the museum. There was quite a crowd of people there. The others were not even aware of its existence so Kirsten had to go and fetch them.
Luckily some people left just before the others arrived so we had a table. The metal tables are much better than wooden ones.
After lunch the kids played for a while making a pile of leaves. Another family then made their own. When they had to leave they kindly brought their leaves over to our pile. When at the critical height the kids dived into it. Though Krysta became a casualty when she got some dirt in her eye.
When we were finished Kirsten and Krysta went into the stamp fair. Sam and Teresa continued to play in the leaves. There were brief showers of light rain.
Another family came and took over our leaf pile, Sam and family left. Teresa and I waited for Kirsten and Krysta to return while in the shelter of the playground’s climbing tower. By this time we were pretty much the only people there. As time went by more people came. The number was small.
After the others returned we played for a while before going to La Porchetta. in North Carlton. This time we did not have pizzas. The kids had the lasagne kids meals. Krysta gusted hers, even eating half her salad. Kirsten had gnocchi, Tetesa ate half of it and I had chicken scallopini limone, which was excellent, so much better than the meal we had at the La Porchetta and Williamstown.
