8thish annual chilli cookoff competition

Well I went to my third of these competitions, I think over a 4 year period. In the first two, I was just a judge, but this time I was a chef. There is some debate about the missing year/s of the competition. So it is the 8thish. In fact there is debate as to when the first one was held. Generally the food is Mexican. There was also debate as to if the food should only be Mexican. I cooked a Chinese dish, an Australian variant of a Shanghai version of grandma bean curd.

The competition is judged on the criteria of appearance, aroma, taste, texture and heat. Each category has the same weight. I came 4th out of 6 in the Peoples Choice, and second in the chefs choice. The recipe I use was one from an Australian web site, but I have lost the link. I’m still not sure about the black beans.
