Well, Fiona dragged me willingly along to the Sydney Premiere of Monty Python’s Spamalot as performed by the Regals Musical Society. I had wanted to see it when it first came to Australia but was not able to travel to see it. I have to say it was brilliant. Also the amateur crew put to shame many professional and national groups I have seen with the quality of the performance. I guess they did not have all the technical mod-cons, but the Rockdale Town Hall is still a good venue and the singing, acting and dancing were top notch. I’d even go on to say it was some of the best dancing I have ever seen. Definitely up with the best Hollywood can do. Of course you are not allowed to take photos or record video. I dislike this rule and I think it does harm to amateur groups who could use the free publicity. But thems the rules. Anyway, if you can, get there and see it! it is on until 17 October 2009.
