三葉蟲 will soon have have a more illustrious career than I on the sage and screen. I headed out to Milperra for the shooting of a commercial. They had a stunt rider riding the GT3. I only saw the shots relating to the use of the GT3, though they had quite a set up for the various scenes to be in the add. It took half the day of my time. The main shot with the GT3 in it took many takes to get it right. Everything else went more smoothly.
I have to say, the whole thing went very smoothly and was very well run. Apparently this was the same company (Lucious International) as who did the last set of QANTAS still call Australia home commercials, although I cannot find it mentioned on their web site.. There was quite a cast and crew, though I am told this was a relatively small shoot. There was someone to do everything, and everyone just got on with doing their task.
One time, as he jumped down onto the road, the flag came out at the middle join. It does just sit there and I have always wondered if it would jump out Now I have seen it happen. The flag now tilts at serious angles when accelerating, stopping and turning, due to the weight of the light on the top.
What I do not understand it that up until a few days ago they were going to use a post man on a bike. Then at the last minute they changed their minds. I got a call on Wednesday night, while I was at the MASSBUG meeting requesting to hire 三葉蟲. In the notes I saw in their office on Friday it showed the trike, but the hard copy I have still shows the motor bike. The stunt man seemed to wonder why they had changed too.
At the end of the day they mounted a camera on the trike and to shoot the stuntman riding the trike. This was not one of the shots listed in the story board, so I am not sure what it going to happen there.
So what happened to the trike. The steering needs a bit of tightening. I have not done this yet, but I have done it before, so I don’t expect any issues. One of the GT3 stickers was a little damaged by the mounting of the camera. I will see if I can flatten it out later today. I rode the trike home from Milperra to Marrickville along the M5.
2010-01-09: I tightened the steering. One of the handlebars was indeed a bit loose, the right hand side one. I need to work out how to tighten the main swivel bolt, but I will leave this for now to see if what I have done is sufficient It does need to be somewhat loose so that it will swivel from side to side, but not so loose that it will swivel in a roll or yaw motion.
