I have been looking at getting a car for quite a while. Kirsten has an old car with over a quarter of a million kilometers on the clock and it is a sedan. I had been looking at getting a van to go camping in but decided that there was nothing that I wanted in the range of what I was willing to pay. So I decided to go to a wagon. At first we were looking at second hand for LPG wagons. They are relatively good value for money. Then I decided it had to have less than 50,000 km on the clock, so now I was up over the $10,000 range. After some more looking I decided that the best value for money was the Hyundai i30 cw. It is a diesel and gets 4.7 l/100 km which is not much more than the 4.5 that I used to get in the Prius. It also seems to be the best value for money proposition in this range. At some stage we will retire Kirsten’s car and replace it with as small hatch if we decide to be a two car family. I bought it from Sutton’s in Arncliffe. This was a good experience though they did try to twist my arm to buy the extra tinting on the windows and sealing of the paint and trimmings. I did not purchase these things.
