I was teaching Krysta her first Chinese characters and came to a realization. The old style characters are sometimes much easier to teach than the new. Take 馬 (mǎ, or horse).
The old version (馬) looks much more like a horse with 4 legs and a rider than the new, stylized and simplified version (马). Of course the new version is much easier to read and write.
