I went around to the The Red Balloon Photography Exhibition by Billy Law. The weather finally cleared a bit and I rode the GT3 out there. On the way I passed they magical, mystical 355 bus. When I got to the exhibition, the gallery was locked? I checked my details, it was meant to be open! So I called Billy. He was down the street. He had left the keys on the Central coast and circumstance had conspired that anyone else with keys was out of town. So we had to wait for Dave to save the day and bring down the keys. Eventually we got in.
The exhibition is about the recent bush fires in Victoria. Billy and Anne went down about two months after the fire. Billy did the photos and Anne an excellent video. These fires have an extra meaning to me. In 1993, in Kallista, I sayed at home to fight the fires. Thought on that occasion they were stopped a few km short of our house when the wind changed. I still had to drive to work thought the fire struck regions. So I purchased a small print as a reminder of that time.
