Here are some interesting, if probably not very practical or legal bicycle bits. They all show innovative design and I do want to make my own dynamo one day like this one. But first a flat folding helmet. I’m sure with the right materials you should be able to make it into a legal helmet. Maybe it needs to have some are on the outside to make it look good.
Next is a really cool set of gears built into a penny farthing wheel, though interestingly it is a trike penny farthing. Now there should be more of those.
And finally a clever generator set. It is very clever as it removes the physical connection from the wheel to the dynamo, but I guess that the air gap will limit the efficiency and the really smart bit, the spherical magnet in the middle of it will still have some friction losses. I’m sure it would be possible to build one with out any moving parts, though the extra weight needed to extra the power will be a trade off against the friction of the wheel turning against the dynamo. So it would be interesting to see how much power for weight you can achieve.
Not the sort of rocket bike I would build, and you would want to run away before you set off the rocket.
It generated this little discussion
Jonathon Troy There are potential military uses for that rocket. Hope the CIA aren’t watching!
