Bike Marrickville Chocolate and Fine Food Ride

Well I finally got to go on the Bike Marrickville Chocolate and Fine Food Ride. They are easily the most popular rides and they are now run twice a year. Fiona organises them and we go around Marrickville visiting various places that sell sweets. We started the day at Petersham, near the station . I was the sweep. I have not done the leader training course. As I was being an official, I did not really stop to try out the foods. I just dashed in to take some pics and spent most of the time outside looking after the bikes and people.

Our first stop was Alfalfa house (113 Enmore Road Enmore NSW 2042). They are more of a general store, but aslo sell chocolates.

Our second stop was Tims Products (407 Enmore Road, Marrickville, NSW, 2204). They sell Continental Greek sweets, biscuits and pastries.

Our third stop, was Casa Del (Unit 8/102-112 Edinburgh Road, Marrickville, NSW 2204) who sell “deserts of indulgance“. Well I had a gellato. At this point our second ride leader turned up and we split into two groups. This left me having to ride and finish my ice-cream while doing so. Something that is a little tricky but doable on the trike. Still, I found my self in need of a little garbage bin on the trike. I’ll have to consider this as an addition.

We now visited Adora Chocolates (10 Homer St, Earlwood). Actually the only chocolate shop on the ride. They had a special for the ride of get a free chocolate with each coffee or tea. So we had some nice chocolates, I had a coffee and we were on our way.

We now headed up the cooks river trail. There was a brief stop before we went onto Wardell road as this was the most dangerous part of the ride with heavy car traffic.

The penultimate stop was at Samir Abla’s Patisserie (157 Georges River Road Croydon Park NSW 2133). This has a selection of sweets from Lebanon.

The last stop was at Georgiou’s Confectionary (147 New Canterbury Road, Petersham NSW 2049).  They claim to be the largest confectionary shop in Australia.

We finished the day back at Petersham. A little speech was had on the etiquette if riding and being good citizens on the road and paths.
